Still way behind on these but let’s knock out this one. January 2nd is dedicated to a Russian monk and mystic, Saint Seraphim. Saint Seraphim was known for his gentle nature. Orthodox worshipers attribute the following to him, “Acquire a peaceful spirit, and thousands around you will be saved.” Peace and calm are struggling points for me. Having a quick temper is a curse. Stopping and taking a count of ten really doesn’t work for me.
The last month or so has been better. I think the impending arrival of a newborn in the house has forced me to reach a new level of focus. I have a long way to go. Biggest struggle for me is going to be work more than at home. I am so much of a perfectionist and hold myself, as well as others to a sometimes unrealistic expectation of performance. When I am inevitably let down, I tend to lash out verbally. I am not a physically angry individual at least.
Music is very calming for me, even if it is something that normally wouldn’t be considered a calming tune. It is the ability to focus a part of my wild and crazy Gemini mind on something, creating the ability to work through a situation without a measure of distraction.
Others find meditation calming, maybe that’s something I will have to look into. What works for all of you out there? I would gladly take suggestions in the comments. For now, go forth and be calm gentle readers. I leave you with this waterfall I borrowed from Photobucket.com
Our message from Mary this week is all about meditation, love and light Scott.
